touch up paint

I need to fix a peck in my spi black base uv clear. What is the best way to proceed? Do the base and then clear or mix the 2 together ? I thought of dabbing in until almost filled then use only clear then try to sand and buff. Your thoughts? would about 2 drops activator to 2 oz. of material do the trick? THANKS

I'd say that you are on the right track. I dab on the base right out of the can. If it needs more than one coat, give the first coat time to dry, just like spraying. Keep a clean rag with reducer handy in case you mess up and have to wipe it off. After allowing the base to cure for at least a day, then dab on some clear. If you want, sand and buff a couple days after the clear.

When mixing small amounts of clear, I use a small glass measuring cup from Walmart. Mine has .5 oz graduations, so I mix a minimum of 1oz of clear, no matter how many touch ups I need to do.

I agree, i will take a #2 sword brush and dab the color just to cover and let set a few hours, then dab clear and trick is to let that set a few hours and dab more, maybe even two to four times over a day or two period. You want the cleat to be just higher then the dried clear.
I let set a day or two 1500 the spot until even and buff it. I do the same thing with a fisheye except no color.

Can I use the above touch up technique on a metallic base paint and have good results? If not what is the best way to go about touching up?
