Trouble with primer over a repair.

I have a problem with the primer on my vette. I was repairing a spot on the nose and had to feather the edge of the old paint into the new work. I got it close an then primered it. But I put the primer on heavy and the edge crinkled up. I waited a couple of days and sanded the area with 220 and reprimered it. It looked fine so I painted the nose of the car. I used 2k primer and DBc 9700 and universal clear. I wet sanded the nose and nothing showed up. As soon as I buffed it out the heat from buffing must of done something because I can see the spot thru the base and the clear. It looks like a deep scratch in the paint and you can make out the crinkle area. I tried to wetsand it out but that didn't work. Everytime the spot was heated by the buffer it would show back up. I plan on sanding the area down to the fiberglass to get rid of the crinkled area under the paint and the use some spot putty (icing) to bring it to the same level as the paint. There are about 6 coats of clear and would be hard to feather the area in. Then sand and primer with epoxy and then paint. It is amazing what a hard time this car is giving me. I have done everything by the book as far as products go and it keeps biting me in the butt.

Any help or ideas.

No, it was featherfill for the primer, dbu 9700 for the color and universal clear. I think I have it under control. I feathered it out and then used some spot filler and then used some epoxy. Left it in the sun and no problem. 80 vette.

Barry meant the old paint you feathered out not the primer you put on it. I'd say a very strong chance it was lacquer.

The factory paint on an 80 was lacquer.

If still under there the big truth will show up most likely after 3 to 7 full days in sun.

I could tell you for a fact it wasn't lacquer. I removed all the old paint off the car, brought it down to fiberglass. Feather filled it then spi epoxy, dbc 9700 then universal clear. No lacquer.
Well anyway I finished the repair and had it primered , I had it sit in the sun yesterday and today and nothing went wrong. I was set to paint it tomorrow. But then I decided to strip the nose of the car and start all over. Then I wouldn't have to worry down the road. Thanks for the help guys.
