universal over pinstripe tape?

Thinking of putting a small pinstrip as a dividing color on a two tone paint job. I would feather not put it on the clear because I think it would hurt future touch up buffing

What it hurt to put the stripe tape under the clear? We're talking about a 1/4" stripe
