I have read the old threads here on Sata fakes and have seen the YouTube video on the difference between a real one and the fake.
So here was my checklist :
Item came in an unopened box, with the hologram sticker intact. The scratch off SAL # was also not revealed.
- Scratched off the SAL # and checked it on the US Sata website. Sata confirmed it is a genuine Sata product.
- The colored ring near the tip is not anodized but a separate plastic piece. According to the YT video, the fake have anodized colored ring.
- The bottom of the handle has a blue plastic tab as part of the design. According to the YouTube video the fakes don't have this.
- The tip came protected with a red plastic cup/cap
So I am reasonably sure my Sata is real but being a total beginner to this profession and hvlp guns, I am just confirming. If the SAL # checks out on the Sata website, then that is enough? Or do the fakes manage to invent Serial # that have come back as real?
