Also what issue of MM&F is that mod for the hood latch in ? Thanks

I talked to Steve and it will be awhile before the story is in the magazine. We are installing flares on the Colt of Personality project car and he wants to include that story in the same issue.

Looks like you are doing a great job like usual Rusty. It looks like you sprayed the slick sand with the rear fender extensions attached, does that cause a problem when you want to remove them?

It won't be a problem you sand off most of the Slick Sand and it won't be painted with them on.

Rusty, I know this is a little late and you have already answered it before, but what did you guys use to strip the engine compartment (post #57) ? Thanks

Whatever it takes to get down to bare metal. DA with 80 grit, wire wheel, hand sand with 180 and red scuff pad.

Thanks for replies rusty. Trying to get a grip on this Slick Sand vs just epoxy for build up. What was the purpose/benefit of using Slick Sand on a new body like this car vs some of your other cars and only using epoxy on them ? I was surprised to see you use it on this car. I'm about to tackle my '69 Mach 1 and want a clearer understanding on when its best to use Slick Sand or not. I appreciate your opinion/advise.

We could have probably gotten by without Slick Sand but I wanted the panels straight.

Lot of block sanding

Couple coats of SPI epoxy

The owner sanded the interior and undercarriage himself.

This is how he looked after sanding

Sprayed a couple coats of SPI red oxide

Fitting the roll bar

Fitting the trim panels

Sprayed the bottom of the deck lid and hood Acapulco blue

Another really nice build!
Is that roll bar going to get any legs into the trunk? I think I would feel safer without that hoop hanging over my head in a violent wreck.
You did a beautiful job on the install, and I'm not knocking the work at all, but that design scares me.

Shelby design

I have had questions wanting to know what issue this would be in and I'm happy to say it's in the March issue that just went to the printers.

This is what Brian has been fabricating. It is an under the dash hood release. The hood required a lot of fabrication along with this latch that came off of another Ford. To find out all the details you will have to read the build story in an upcoming issue of Modified Mustangs & Fords magazine.

The engine came in a couple of weeks ago

We had to change the motor mounts to Ron Morris adjustable to clear the hood.

It runs on pump gas and makes 502HP @5900 and 533 ftlbs torque @3600. Click to see the video.
