I am looking at a 1978 Corvette to flip, it has a built 350 and only needs minor work. He wants $4,500.00 for it, do you guys think it is a god buy.

"Only needs minor work" is a highly variable statement.
Rust in the frame and birdcage are the big deals. Plenty of YouTube videos on how to inspect for that, if you are not familiar.
Hacked up wiring is another potential headache.
These are hard to work on. Everything is a PITA.
That said, it could be a good deal and a double or triple your money project, just be fully aware of what it really needs.

Have you any experience with those models of Corvette? They are literally the worst built Corvettes ever made as this was a few years before GM closed down the ancient and very out of date St. Louis assembly plant. They built and opened the current Bowling Green factory for the release of the 1984 model. I spent a year plus on a 1977 (Terrible as it's a one year only car in a LOT of respects which makes parts a problem!). Also the expense of the complicated vacuum headlight system. They do have a nice electric version replacement out now but as always for a price!

As Dean mentioned a rusted birdcage is almost a given at this late date. I won't even mention the mess of T-Tops! Also and you probably know this but of all the cars on the road Corvettes are repaired and driven no matter how bad they get! So they are driven into the ground and that car most likely needs a complete suspension/brake rebuild.

So if you know these models well take a shot!
I like the trivia too!
How many 1983 Corvettes were made? Zero.

Only One 1983 Corvette

If you get a chance do go to Bowling Green and take the Corvette tour and then go to the Corvette museum. It's still a bit weird but Zora is buried at the museum!

I agree with the others, run. I had a 79 and sold it 5 years ago for 6k. I was lucky I got that truthfully. I owned it nearly 30 yrs. Those C3 hold NO value. The emissions crunch killed that generation with hp of 195/L45 and 210/L82. You'll dump more $$ than you'll ever get and that's even with a clean straight body and frame.
