2.1 voc production clear

How many of you guys have tried the 2.1 clear, I just tried this past weekend and I just love the shine it has, seems to be a very nice clear. I did have a bit of peel because of the seal in my fan dial on my sata, so cut and polish afterwards and came out beautiful, way more impressed with this over the universal.

Just thought Id share that lol get you guys some pics tomorrow.

I've been using the 2.1 VOC with fast activator for small spots, have abused the crap out of it, have gotten small solvent pop ( all my wrong doing ), have buffed it in about 90 mins, have buffed it a week later even with polar accelerator in it, and still buffed fine, very impressed with it's finish and usability, it's a good damn clearcoat for sure, specially when you factor in the price.

But I wouldn't put it in the same category as the universal, I can't say that I notice a difference as far as final gloss between the two of them, but the universal flashes off faster and is more forgiving when it comes to solvent pop, and it has a longer buffing window.

Im usually not in a big rush and allow plenty of time for material to flash so that end of things dont bother me but for the gloss I found the 2.1 to be a nicer looking clear. Gonna be doing a complete this weekend so we'll see how that goes.

If you try the universal with slow or very slow activators I think it will come out nicer than the 2.1 on an overall, but then again I haven't used the 2.1 VOC that much yet, I have only done small spots.

the very slow activator for the universal is the ticket. it changes that whole clearcoat. imo on an overall its the only choice in any temp. night and day difference.

One thing about the 2:1 VOC clears you must watch and that is they are loaded with Oxsol and the one thing Oxsol does is extent the flash times.
Example may be with all things equal using fast activators in both the universal and the 2100 at say 70 degrees.
Flash time on the universal might be 4-7 minutes, depending on gun adjustment.
Flash time on the 2100 might be 8-15 minutes depending on gun adjustment.
Cure time is NOT affected, just flash time.

bit of orange peel but I'll blame it on the new gun lol, trying a Sata 90-2 rp with a 1.3 tip definitely has potential tho IMG_3939.jpg

I was worried sick about the speed of activator and the temp you were going to shoot at!

Glad you liked it.

didnt even need to cut or buff! so glossy mirror smooth hard to photo! thought it was smoother to shoot but i related it to shooting at higher temps that day... smell doesnt carry as much.

406, that is just a perfect job!

This clear is rather new to us and I'm still learning how it works, as the big difference is how I made the three activators with such a wide range of temperature usability.

I did it this way so I would not need 4-5 different activators and never have made such a wide range of usage before, so like with Hotbo, I was a little reserved when he was asking questions before using.

So far in the time we have had this clear out, all the feed back I have gotten has been just perfect, so maybe I tend to get concerned for no reason.

My intention was the best use of the activators would be the painter would blend, say fast and medium to suit their own temperature needs.

i used medium activator, probably could have used slow. for my heavy handed spraying, medium activator seems to suit me spraying several light/medium coats instead of heavy ones, especially since everything i spray is round... no drips

just whipped these blue fire test pieces out before i do an fxr. i must say the 2.1 is great. no cut and buff on these either.
