2 month old epoxy. Go direct to reduced epoxy?

I primed my metal dash about 2 months ago with epoxy.
Can I scuff with 400 grit sandpaper then do a single coat of reduced epoxy 1:1:1, the shoot the color?

Otherwise do I have to sand with 180, put 2 coats epoxy, sand, reduced epoxy then color.

Thanks Barry. I was unsure of the 400 grit. I do love that the epoxy is glossy, easier to tell if I missed sanding a spot.
