any problems with spraying epoxy primer over bare aluminum that could have possibly been acid washed in the past?

any problems spraying bc/cc over a roll cage that has previously been coated with "zero rust"? any paticular procedures i should take?

First the answer to both of your questions is it is a big risk.

First question, acid film will eventually neutralize itself, if if its has been long enough the epoxy will be fine.
How long is long enough, there is no set answer. Months anyways.

Base over metal ready won't work.

thanks for the replies Barry and Shine.

so you think i should strip the zero rust off? would you reccomend a specific chemical to strip it or should i just get some 80 grit after it? sorry if these are dumb questions. i know nothing about paint. i built this cage for a rock crawler and the customer painted it with the zero rust and now wants to make this into a show buggy. zero rust says you can paint over their product but i have always heard that you cant. i would rather have to strip it now than to spray it with spi epoxy and have it bubble and waste the epoxy.

How I would prep it would be to wipe it down with SPI waterborne W&G remover, sand it with 80 grit, and wipe it down again. Then it is ready for SPI epoxy.
