3M Grinding Disks

I have three 8" 3M hook it, Resin Bone, Paper E wt., 80 grit, grinding disks in front of me. The sanding side all appear the same, dark green. Each disk has a different three symbol designation. SH3, PN3, and SE4. Other than this difference, they appear to be identical. Can anyone explain what the different symbols represents?

I contacted 3M tech support. All three disks identical (SH3, PN3, and SE4). These three symbol designations are production dates. For example, SH3 was manufactured on October, 2010, third week. Most 3M products have an expiration date. On this product, its five years. Once its beyond expiration date, the product downgrades faster than prior to the expiration date. I am assuming once the product expires, it may change hands and be sold at discounted prices, but thats just a guess.

I was a little surprised. The SH3 disk that I bought at a local supply store last year was the one produced 2010, October, third week of October.
