7 day window

I have some parts that have had epoxy on them for a long time. When I get ready to put 2k on them will a red scuff pad be good enough or do I need something a little rougher?

The SPI tech. manual states - "After 7 days the epoxy should be sanded with 180 and re-coated with epoxy".
When all else fails, follow the directions.

180 might be the ideal scratch grit according to the tech manual, but what we have have found at my shop is that the most important thing is to have a meticulous scratch pattern over the entire surface, most importantly the areas that are hard to reach and remember, like indentations and around corners, bottom edges, inside holes... you get the picture. Careful prep beats which grit you use any day of the week.

red scotchbrite works fine for any between primer scuffing

Thanks guys. My thought was to scuff it ,hit it with one more coat of epoxy and put the 2k on the next day. Does that sound about right?
