So I go to my local body shop & they tell me the process they would use to refinish an endura bumper. It goes something like this...
Remove paint 220 grit or /and media blast
fix gouges with Kent EP using 3M 06396 adhesion promoter
Prime with Medallion RS-515 Fill & flex primer
wet sand with 1500
Seal with PPG DAS3025
Paint
PPG DC2000 flex clear
From what I read on this forum this is the process that is recommended...
Mechanical or media blast strip
Clean with waterborne wax and grease remover
Fix holes/gauges with Kent EP
Clean with waterborne W&G with scuffing paste (dont know what scuffing paste is)
prime 2 coats Epoxy primer
Fix light cosmetic repairs with flexible polyester glaze
sand
re-prime with Epoxy
paint
Top Coat
Reason I ask is that I already have several SPI products that would cut down on my cash outlay.
Questions:
Kent EP. Is the adhesion promoter needed?
Fill me in on the scuffing paste. Best one to buy?
Best flexible polyester glaze to purchase?
Is the DC2000 flex clear needed? (I am assuming so)
Any other advice in the refinishing of this bumper?
Thanks in advance for the comments. I eagerly await the pro's comments!
This Bumper is keeping me awake at nights!
Regards,
Stan
