acrylic Lacquer?

The problem isn't with any epoxy put on it. The problem is that is is going on an unstable surface. Be same as using a pair of crutches that the supporting wood is cracked and broken. I personally would not put my weight on them.
 
And that's why 90% of these youtube videos are shit.
And he's holding up a can of slick sand in the vid screenshot. If he's calling that epoxy........Lord.
The video is of a 1982 corvette. They were not painted with laquer from the factory in 1982. The factory used acrylic enamel base coat/clear coat.
I think I will just experiment with trying to improve the existing paint. And if I don’t have another project this winter I’ll just strip it down using heat and razor blade.
