Adhesive for trim and emblems?

Looks like a 2" wide black tape adhesive was used to hold on the badges and trim.
What are most of you using to attach these?

The 3M 03614 moulding tape worked good for me the few times I needed it. That number is off a 1/2" X 180" blister pack, I guess they have different widths.

Yeah, I am not seeing any 2" wide stuff. They used 1/2" on the side moldings but the emblems have a wide, thick (.090" ??), black, dense, foam type adhesive tape.

Try their web site. I looked there recently for clear VHB (no foam) and saw more foam tape types than I could shake a stick at.

I assume you are reusing the emblems?

I have done that and had excellent results with 3M 08061 emblem and trim adhesive.
Hint" moderation is a good thing.

Ugghh, I tried the adhesive and it destroyed my paint job. Clear was sprayed four days ago and the temps in the high 80s. Cut and buffed, reinstalled everything but the emblems and thought I was done. Now I have to repair both front fenders.

That sucks. I dont know if you saw it but Barry just posted about a shop that did almost the same thing masking stripes. Did these parts get any sun prior to putting the adhesive on?

Fusor makes an extra thick emblem tape. I have used the thin transfer tape, good stuff.

Strum, only about 2 hours of time in the sun. The jobber said this 3M adhesive could be used the next day - I waited four days.
Tcs, I have had good success with Fusor products so I'll check that out thanks.

3M 08061 Plastic and Emblem Adhesive.
Dissolved the paint - 3 coats of SPI 2100 clear and 3 coats of Pro Spray activated base. Followed instructions to the "T" and taped the emblem in place for 30 minutes. When I went to remove the tape the emblem seemed loose and then I noticed the paint looked soft and puffy around the edges. The emblem fell off into my hand bringing the melted paint with it.

Never have had any problems with the 3M, but I have never put emblems back on the same day.

I will say one thing. I've made a ton of mistakes, but never the same one twice. So its all a learning curve! Looks at it this way, atleast it happened on a single panel, not a panel that had no where to tape off and forced you to redo half the truck.
