Ballpark base requirement

How do you guys judge the amount of base a job will take? I will be using a custom silver grey metallic/pearl Prospray 3.5 over grey SPI epoxy, and will be covering about 225 square feet.

What do you think about sprayable ounces, per square foot, per coat?

Thanks!

Coverage probably wont be much of an issue ..but getting the metallic / pearl to lay the way you want may take a little extra. Knowing how much epoxy you used per coat might give you a starting point ..then times it by three (approx . Coats of reduced bc to get coverage) then figure out how much base it is unreduced.

I use 8 oz. of RTS (ready to spray) per coat, per panel for estimating purposes. Of course color makes a difference but I always figure 3 coats minimum of base and clear.

Thanks.

Pretty close to what I figured. I used about .9 oz per foot per coat of primer, but I laid it on pretty thick, and was planning to shoot lighter coats of base. R/T, your number works out to about .75 oz/ft/coat, which confirms my estimate.
