Basecoat time frame to Clearcoat?

I am new at painting. 30 years ago i used lacquers, acrylic enamels etc etc, now getting back in to it with 2 project, What is the time frame when the universal clear should be sprayed on to the base coat, how soon, and what is the maximum time frame between applying the clear over the urethane basecoat, till the basecoat must be sanded for adhesion? Also can a metallic basecoat be sanded without disturbing the flake in the way it was layed down?
Thanks

For production work, 30 minutes, for restoration work, overnight.

Some painters will say indefinitely, but some paint systems give a 72 hour max. Without specific direction from the paint manufacturer, say 1 week indoors is a good round figure.

No.

No as in sanding will disturb the flow or metallic grain and be ruined? Not recommended
