Vic04
Hi everyone. I'm new here and I'm a total beginner to autobody repair and autobody painting. Currently I have a 2004 Crown Victoria that I bought for really cheap and now I'm in the process of restoring it.
I'm a hands on type of guy and decided that I would like to paint my own car and lucked out and found a vocational school in my area that offers a 3 month class where we can work on our own cars but we have to purchase our own paint.
So here are my questions:
1. The Ford Crown Victoria has a known paint problem from the factory where it flakes off in spots so if I repaint the car is it absolutely necessary to take the car down to bare metal before I repaint it? I know the areas with rust will have to be taken down to bare metal.....
2. I want to use all SPI products and either Wanda or Motobase as a basecoat paint with the same Ford Prefromance white color currently on the car. So as a total beginner I was just wondering what SPI products would be best for this job as a total beginner.
