Best quality Camaro parts supplier? (Wholesale)

Hey guys,

Who has the best quality Camaro parts (first) and pricing (second). I'm doing a complete restore on a '68 and will be buying alot of pieces and parts for this car.

I would guess Bob has a good suggestion.

Thank you in advance,

Scott

NOS would be the best  I've heard there's only a few manufacturers with some relabeling going on. Goodmark and Golden Legion are common, I've purchased from Year One, Sherman, Keystone, Summit Racing, Tamraz, and Browns. We saved quite a bit of money ordering through Summit a few years ago when doing my Son's car-enter any Goodmark part number into the summit search box and it'll pull up and the shipping was way more economical. ALL of the aftermarket parts need work to get them to fit and some are almost impossible to replicate oem. You'll notice different sized welds, stamping differences, sometimes the quarters aren't aligned well in the dies and flanges are wider or narrower. Doorskins are often 1/8-3/16" longer. The Goodmark 68 right side quarter had a serious fit problem on the top rear where it meets the decklid and rear panel-slice and dice was required but they may have that fixed now. The replacement floors are missing some stamping lines. Spend some time on the camaro forums and I'm sure you can get an idea of who's producing the best parts but not everyone guages fit and appearance the same. NOS is still the best usually unless it's the last run.

Thank you Bob for the quick answer and the lead on Summit. The body on this car is pretty good except for the hood.(need a SS hood) The window moldings just need to be polished, and the glass is very good. I'll need bumpers, tail lights, side markers, interior (complete), wheel opening moldings, tach, wood wheel, emblems, hardware, weather striping, marker lights, gas cap,,,,,etc... If anyone has any experiance they wish to share about 1968 Camaro parts/suppliers please chime in.

Thanks again,

Scott

I know someone that used Goodmark quarters on a 2nd gen camaro. The guy that done the work for him had to cut and pretty much make the gaps around the doors and deck lid. If I remember right the body line on the right side doesn't line up with the door. I'm gonna have to cut and move the body on that quarter when I get to working on it next year.

I put a 1 piece front floor in the 68, came from AMD. It was a jam up piece!! Only thing it didn't come with is the seat boxes for bucket seats. They (original ones) fit amazingly well on the aftermarket floor. Also put a trunk pan in, from AMD also.

I was very pleased...the stuff about FELL right in. All of emblems, talight housings, marker lights and all lenses came from Classic Headquarters. They fit verty well! Had to do some work on the fender emblems as a few of the studs on the emblems didn't quite line up...a little filing and they popped right in. Even the grill trim and headlight bezels fit well for aftermarket. I've definately worked with worse. One thing to not though, every piece of exterior sheet metal, other than hood and front header panel was original. The hood came from AMD also...but if I remember right, the box had Goodmark on it? Can't really recal.

All in all..from what I used from Classic Headquarters couldn't really ask for any better other than original!

One thing that you need to remember is that those cars fit together like crap originally. The tollerance for the fit was not that close when they came from the factory, and people that bought them new didn't care. Now, people that are "restoring" them think that the gaps should be "perfect". Most of the cars I see at shows will actually have gaps that are too tight. They build everything up so much with bondo, Slick Sand, and High Build Primer, that the panels are 3 times as thick as they should be. The edges of the doors, fenders, quarters, and such actually will have a roll to them. They build everything up and then paint them. The paint closes up the gaps even more, and they haven't allowed for that. I tell people that bring their cars to me that I will not do that kind of work. If they want the "perfect Gaps", they will be paying atleast 2-3 times as much for the work.

Thank you Jeremy! Just what I was looking for.
I had never heard of "Classic Headquarters" and when I first read your post, I thought you ment Classic Industries. They look to have many quality parts and not just the cheap "price point" stuff that the bigger parts houses use.

I have a 68 NOS left door skin.I would also add that I think AMD is maketing better stuff then Dynacorn and Goodmark.
