Best way to prep this Harwood Hood?

I was going to scuff the gel coat good with 80 grit on the DA and then spray a few coats of epoxy and start blocking. Then apply my filler over the epoxy just like I do on steel.

Is epoxy first a waste of time with a fiberglass hood? Should I just start blocking the gel coat with 100 and then scuff my lows and add filler directly to the scuffed gel coat?
 
Either way works fine but scuffing with 80 is not required, 180 would be sufficient. Think 80 grit for bare metal only.
