He likes doing stripping and blasting. Busy work, and not much thinking involved. He can burn up surface conditioning discs like you wouldn't believe. It seems you have a love-hate relationship with your helper... LOL...

Local powdercoater will do blasting for me, he has serious equipment and prob could have done in 3 or 4 hours what it took me 18 hours to do (no kidding) I'd gladly paid him 350 bucks to bail me out of that weekend! I hate to say it, but there was some MCU involved. Not sure what they charge for blasting in your area but here it's not cheap - $75/hour and up.
That sounds very cheap to me. I would set down my nozzle if I could get it done that cheap. Are they using your materials and equipment? Not sure what they charge for blasting in your area but here it's not cheap - $75/hour and up.
I dont see much need to dig that out, you can with a knife or something. Unless you are going to separate the skin from the underside, (like the guy in the other thread) you will have rust all along that inside mating surface. Thats where you pour some epoxy inside and turn the lid clockwise or counter clockwise to try to get to the inside of that surface.
I don't think that is glass bead, I think it is crushed glass. Glass bead does not leave adequate "tooth" for refinishing, so it's much better if it is indeed crushed glass.
