I'd still like an explanation of the difference between Sand and Crushed Glass from a Health standpoint. Sand IS Glass and your Crushing it during the Blasting.
So what IS the difference?
Using Sand as a Media is Terrible. Your essentially Using a thousand tiny hammers to strip with because Common Sand is basically Round/Smooth unless you have a Sharp Sand like used in Swimming Pool filters which does well if you can afford it.

All low micron particulate is hazardous. Some may be chemically inert, but like silica , glass particulates ( in small size) can cause silicosis, or exhibit the same symptoms. There is an undisputed truth here. “ The poison is in the portion “

A sandblaster helmet with good airflow and comfort makes a huge difference on long jobs. I've been using one with an air supply, and it keeps me cool while preventing fogging. The visibility is way better compared to cheap alternatives, and the added protection against dust and debris is a game changer. If you're working for extended periods, investing in a helmet with a proper sealed fit and ventilation is well worth it.
