brake fluid

Will any paint hold up to brake fluid? I want to paint a new master cylinder before installing it in a 71 Buick gs...Second question, what's the best way to replicate natural cast iron? I believe the brake master cylinder is supposed to retain the natural cast iron appearance. I was contemplating using DOT 5, but not sure I should bother...thoughts?

I think it's counter-intuitive but using DOT 5 encourages rust in the brake system. It's also a great way to introduce silicone to your paint process. I put DOT 5 in my Corvette's brake system after replacing the master cylinder and calipers. Years later, without ever putting a mile on the car I had to open up the calipers (they were leaking). The stainless sleeves were fine but the water (I assume it was condensation) sank to the lowest point in the system and did its thing. DOT 5 does not absorb water so when it forms, it stays as water.
