Can I spray Epoxy with my old Primer gun?

I need to prime the inner wheel opening lips on the outer wheelhouses. I stripped them bare because i was going to spot weld them to the 1/4 with my "fender tongs". Anyway, I ended up just plug welding them, but the inner lip is still bare.

Both my full size gun,and touch up HVLP guns are gravity feed, so either way I try to orient them I cant get the air cap in the wheel "high" enough to spray the lip, either the paint cup, or the air hose bottoms out in the top of the wheel well.

I have this old gun, and since the cup and the hose both come out the bottom, it will spray in there.

Question is, I don't remember anything about using this gun, what pressure to use, did it even have different air caps, etc. Obviously I never tried to shoot epoxy with it.

It is a Binks Model 7, the air cap says 36SD on it.

I shot tons of paint with the no.7 for years but it's been so long since I switched to gravity and HVLP I don't remember exactly what pressure I used. I would try about 40lbs and go up from there. A few test shots before you go to the work will tell the story. It is going to make serious cloud of overspray.

Edit: I took a look at mine and it has the same air cap. The gun should work if clean inside. Run the fluid needle in and back it out untill you get a decent pattern, set the fan where you want. I shot a lot of alkyd based paints that were north of 20 seconds-Zahn cup and I think I ran 65-70 psi and the fluid wide open, fast passes :). You won't need to go there, start low and work it up.

I have a couple of Devilbis guns like that, gave away my 7 years ago :(

I would imagine it would lay it down ok, just likely a lot of over spray?

I have never used a Binks, I loved my JGA 502 & #30 cap though. If my old memory is correct I liked to shot Centari about 55 psi with a 20 second Zahn cup. I loved using the cup, don't it always seemed to give me more control over my paint.
Maybe it was because it was accurate, vs pouring in some paint and pouring in reducer until it stirred about right, LOL.

Like Metalman said, had to move fast with that setup, prolly why the LPH400 seems slow to me.

I'd like to see how well that SEM XXX gun cleaner works on that gun . . .

Now that I think about it, if it's just being used to spray the inside of an outer wheelhouse, much less pressure could be used.
