Ceramic products

I have a black Show Car that I painted with all
SPI products (Epoxy, SS Black UC)-
My problem is that I use Chemical Guys Butter Wax and it will look good for a show, but when I dust it off it gets hazy/marks in it (using new Microfiber Towels with a spray of water-no water I get micro scratches)-
So, I started using P & S Dreamaker at Show and it works well, but-
I'm getting ready for Shows this year and used Waterborne W & G remover to strip it down and start fresh and wondered if there is a better way as It gets labor intensive-
I know Barry doesn't like Ceramic products and I wonder if someone can enlighten as to why? I use a Ceramic spray on my daily and it stays looking great, and I refresh it once a year-

I have two motorcycles in my garage each having been professionally ceramic coated. Plus my 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee was done shortly after we bought about a year ago.

The difference is amazing as a simple wash and rinse, then wipe it down with a microfiber towel brings back the shine.

This bike was just done after having a new S&S 121 motor installed.

This bike was done a couple of years ago and has travelled many miles since.

My Jeep Grand Cherokee today after a trip to the car wash. I live on a dirt road so it gets pretty dirty and washed frequently. No buffing or polishing done but still has a good shine and reflections.

The product the guy uses requires certification in proper application before they will sell it.
I know he uses a clay bar but not sure of all the steps.

Barry mentioned numerous times in the past for several reasons, that he does not recommend using any ceramic products on his clears or single stage. Perhaps give SPI a call and ask if they have recommendations.

i was resistant for awhile but eventually gave in and i see no adverse effects to using ceramic. it just makes everything easier to clean and it all stays clean for longer. just remember there are 2 types. an actual ceramic coat like what 68 had done and the spray type which offers the hydrophobic and cleaning qualities but offers no coating and it last about 3 mos instead of a year or two. i use the spray type on some things and the coating on others. i just buy the stuff and have always done it myself as the over the counter stuff now, if you get a good one, lasts the same time as the professionally applied stuff. i would not worry about putting on spi clear at all BUT i would not put the coating type on a fresh paint job.

Hey Jim, what is your definition of fresh paint job? :)

well it depends on how many coats you have on it and how much sun it sees. just a 2 coat job i would give 2-3 mos. more coats means a longer wait. could be up to 6 mos. same rules as a wax or any type of sealant.

I remember Barry saying the clear takes a month per coat to fully cure. I would think that certainly depends on temperature, but you get the idea.
