i finally got around to using the new VSeries compound . they have dropped the old CC line that i used for years.
been using presta since i ran out. this new stuff is very impressive. i think it will be my go to compound from now on . i ordered the sample pack first . 4 4oz bottles for 19.00 .
stays creamy for a long time , has a nice smell. maybe some carnuba in it . very fast cut on the orange pad and the finish up with the black pad is awesome . try it you wont be disappointed .

you know i contacted them a while back because i remember you said you use their stuff and i told them i currently was using the new 3m performance compound and i wanted something similar to it. im not sure if its what you are using now shine but they gave me the price of their comparable product and it ended up being way more than the 3m stuff which really blew my mind.

32 oz is about 30 dollars . some a little less but that is about average. the old CC line was about 35 a gal . i haven't got to use it a lot but it seems to last much longer than presta . with a shot of pad lube it last even longer. i bought the sample pack to try.
presta is good but it just works me to death .

plus they run specials all the time. right now it is a 20% off for sema .

yeah i think thats the stuff. if they had it in gallons at a better price point it might be worth it but $120 a gal is hard when i think i get the 3m for $90 and according to chemguys its the same technology. wizards is the same deal. they have compound thats really killer. very similar to the 3m stuff. but again, only avail in quarts and that stuff is $44 per qt. they are smokin crack. i can burn through a gallon in no time flat.

i want to do a whole car with it. then i will know for sure but it seems to go further . stays creamy and does not dry out. if it will cut time and aggravation it will be worth the extra cost. but then i threw cost out with the bathwater when paint hit 800 a gal.
the black vette coming up will be my test .

have you used the 5000g trizact yet? best thing i have seen come down the path in a real long time.

no. i have been plying catch up since my surgery . everything was painted . still putting them together . my shop truck will be next for paint. cabs done. i'm all for finer paper . i still remember the buffing 600 out .

x2 with Jim C on the 5000 trizact. got a few FREE... yes free in a jobber pack at our shop a few monthes ago. used them on the black 67 camaro we are working on right now. All i can say is WOW!!! i whipped out the hood in less time than our other tech did the trunk using 3000. awesome stuff especially on black, saves a bunch on the elbow grease.

will give the 5000 a try on my truck. i do wear the 3000 smooth out . old habits . i use to save 600 and reuse it over and over.

another old trick was to soak it in soap and water . it will get soft and wad up in a ball like a tack rag . worked great in jambs and such .

omg youll never go back. you could almost buff a car with your t-shirt. the stuff cuts forever too. last car i did i think i only used one disc for the whole thing. maybe 2 at most i cant remember.

Most of the time I don't even use 3000 anymore.. I have found on the last few projects that I must not be getting my courser scratches all the way out so the 3000 doesn't seem as beneficial..

Although the last job i did I switched to the Meguires paper and that helped me out a lot. Traditionally I used the Norton Black Ice and I don't think it is uniform enough. What does everybody use for wet sanding paper.

I use the Nikkens (re labeled Meguiars ) wet for 2000 & 3000.. Still using 3M disk for DA..
I used to buy the Mirka Abralon pads but I think they suck..
When I need more paper I'm going to buy some Eagle brand..

I'm a little gun shy buying the 3000 & 5000 disk. My jobber wants $7 a piece and I guess since I've not had good luck with lessor pads before ( Abralon) I'm a little gun shy lol

well the 3m 3000 trizact discs kinda suck as well. the green eagle bufflex are the way to go. the 5000 on the other hand out cuts and outlasts their 3000 like 4:1. i was told they are revamping the 3000 now to make it good like the 5. who knows. if you guys are going to 2000-3000 already then just try the 5000 over that and youll never go back. $7 a piece for the 5000 sounds like alot but if you can do a whole car with one or 2 and it cuts hours off your buffing on a whole car.......

Do you use the green bufflex dry or is it wet like 3M 3000?

While I'm at it, which sequence of grits and sandpaper do you use? is it 1000 Eagle dry > 1500 Eagle Dry > 3000 Eagle Bufflex > 3M 5000 Trizact.

jorge the green bufflex is done wet. as for grits...your right on the money. 1000 and 1500 are the eagle yellow film discs

Jim,

Have you tried taking out Eagle 2500 scratches with Trizact 5000? I have a box of 2500, so I was wondering if the 5000 would work well with that instead of 3000.

Don't mean to hi-jack a chemicals guys compound thread. But everyone is talking about sanding discs.

Check out this link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FZqnN8cnReg

The video link is just a 3M guy demoing 1500 DRY finishing film discs (NOT there purple trizact 1500 WET discs!!!) and then WET Trizact 3000 and 5000 discs. One big thing I learned and didn't know, is that you have to make 4-6 complete passes with the trizact 3000 to remove the ALL 1500 sanding scratches???? Wow. JimC, are you making 6 passes with the Eagle stuff? Damn, im using a 3/32 stroke finishing DA so that probably doesn't help either. Compared to that video, I'm just not sanding enough.

Also, JimC has educated me in that you don't really know when the 3M 3k trizact stops working because it keeps foaming up. I think this may be my biggest issue that I have had in the past. Not sanding enough with the 3k discs to remove ALL the 1500 grit scratches, and then start out buffing using a 3M compound and white foam pad which may not cut out ALL the 1500 grit scratches like a wool pad probably would. I'm learning. And on my next job, I hope my buffing gets better. And as soon as I use up my 3M 3k, I'm gonna get some Eagle WET discs.

I would really like to use an all WET DA discs system from 1000 grit and up. I agree with Bondoking, the Mirka Abralon sucks.

Just thought I would share my experience. Comments and suggestions are welcome.

i use 2000/2500 then move to 3k. i just never believed in skipping grits. i will make several passes then dry and look. i repeat this several times.
