Cleaning (course sand) blasted metal

My local Tractor Supply was sold out of the 40/80 grit sand I use for blasting, so I was forced to purchase 20/40 grit and the blast texture turned out very deep/sharp.
I am anticipating shredded towels trying to clean it....
I planned on hitting it with 710 to help remove any remaining GM frame wax/undercoating residue, then the 700 WB afterword.
Any suggestions?

I was in the same boat a few months ago. I used the 20/40 for about 15 minutes, and decided to wait until I could get some finer blast media! I would hit the panel with 80 grit on a DA to knock the edge off, and then clean it.

Use a scotch brite pad and an air hose at the same time to clean off the rag fuzz. I agree, it might not be a bad idea to smooth it with a da. If not, make sure you put on two coats of epoxy. Just one might not fill the blast profile, leaving the "peaks" unprotected.

I could hit some of it with some 80 on a DA, but it's a frame with lots of areas that would not be accessible to one.

mix up some dawn soap and put it in a bug sprayer. soak it down and use a white brush on it then rinse. it will get it clean.

One thing to consider when priming something with a coarse profile is give each coat of primer plenty of time to lock up between coats-this will give you better build on the peaks and edges.
