cleaning my gun

I have read the gun cleaning thread (and fear redirecting it) but I am new to this and all the paint supplies I have on hands are just primer and activator and w&g remover. I kept noticing the trend of no one using lawyer thinner in their guns and I would assume its because of the recycled nature of it. I was wondering, I had noticed Barry had said to soak a bit in the berrymans carb cleaner but if acetone would work for a final rinse(I have plenty of it on hand) .

lacquer thinner is ok just dont soak it. a gun should never be that dirty or left dirty after using. simply rinse it out good after use.

Cool beans. I actually have some "free" acetone I aquire from work (I use it to clean steel before I weld) would it work?? I also have access to pure isopropyl alcohol I would think it may not be strong enough but the waterborne w&g smells like it and a dab of acetone....

I find I have to rinse mine out at least 4 times before it gets clean enough. Remember to rinse your gun enough times when you have been shooting clear, because of its trnsparent nature you might think the gun is clean enough, but in might not be.

i rinse between coats. when done i break down the gun ,clean and lube it . it will be like new when i need it next .

Conserning the op, I have heard of people who use their guns as lawyer thinners......:)

granpa always said when you have a lawyer buried up to his neck in sand................. you need more sand .
