It will depend upon what you are painting. Show cars, daily drivers, collision shop, etc.
more or less show cars..above average daily drivers....
Universal Clear 4000 would be my choice. Let's see what others have to say.
please explain,is it do to a freindly user clear,uv protectin, solid content..etc..looking for as much info as possible..looking to try something new..

From the tech sheet:
"UV clear has been used over the years on many Barrett Jackson cars, Pebble Beach cars as this clear was designed for restoration and street rod refinishing."

Choice of many top restorers. These cars all painted with UV clear:

i was reading on here that the euro 5000 has the same resins as the uv but is a harder clear?ie more scratch resistant?

I think the correct terminology would be the Euro cures faster. Hang in here and BarryK will surely shed some light on this since it has been brought up in a couple of threads lately.

uv cures faster if it sits in the sun, and the sun is the true test of how your paint job will hold up! :) ill start another thread becuase i want to know how to get it to cure faster like euro.

Best thing to do is buy a quart kit of Universal and try it, then talk to Barry about your results, he might suggest something else based on your results. Euro keeps getting thrown around as suitable for top shelf work but it is definitely not as all around user friendly as the UC. Really the two choices for nice cars are UC and MS.

BTW, I use lots of Euro in my shop, and it's really good for its intended purpose, which is collision repair, imo. If you get set on trying it, use the slow activator if you plan on buffing, and get your buffing done within 5 days or so.

Have you tried the production clear, Jon?

No, the Euro is more cost effective and serves my needs well. Do you think there is a compelling reason for me to try it?

why is the uc labeled as user freindly?im looking for a clear thats a high solid scratch resistant coating, with good uv protection.i can figure out the proper viscosity once i start to spray.what makes universal better over ,ms,euro?other than being user freindly?thanks.

Call Barry, he will have the corect answer for you and he will enjoy chatting with another member of the forum too.

He is a very personable person and takes the time to "know" the person on the phone, not just give the cold facts and rush you away.
