I have never heard of any insurance company covering any personal auto under homeowner's content coverage.
If the agent did not put it in writing, I would call an adjuster at the company and ask.
Better safe than sorry.
My insurance agent told me any car needs an auto policy and is not covered by my homeowners. I agree with Barry, your situation doesn’t sound right. That still goes for my cars that are just shells and aren’t registered. I shouldn’t say this out loud but I currently have a 69 Mach 1 428 Super Cobra Jet drag pack car sitting in the barn as a shell not covered by any insurance as I don’t have an auto policy on it…My agent said that if it's not licensed they consider it in storage. I had the Title transferred into my name but never put plates on it.
Hopefully I will never have to find out whether they cover it or not.
Thats why I switched to Haggerty, they cover project cars.My Farmers agent was very clear. Car in the shop NOT covered.
I got Haggerty's. Very reasonable for an in process project. Just declare the value and get a quote.
Im glad to got to the bottom of this!!!Okay, I stand corrected. Contacted my insurance agent and this was his reply:
"There is no coverage for the car.
Homeowners insurance does not cover motor vehicles for anything other than contents in the car. So, if you had a computer in the car that would be covered, but the vehicle has no coverage."
The clue was started years ago any company that pays any claim enters all the info including if they thought you scammed them or if you were an a-hole to deal with.Just a comment ? If your interested you can get your CLUE file. This has all you prior insurance claim info and is used industry wide. You also can request a free copy of your own CLUE report. I was not aware of this?

I have Heacock for my 67. They came in a lot cheaper than Hagerty or Grundy. But I need to inquire about the cars in my “to restore pile.”If cars were covered under house insurance, so would 4-wheelers, snowmobiles, and boats.
The four wheeler I bought my wife for yard work a few years back; state farm said a separate policy for lia and theft coverage never leaves the yard, so I did not buy it.
RE: Drag Pak.
Some classic car insurers will insure parts and cars while you restore them.
I know mine does, and pretty cheap cause no lia is needed. 0-deductable on comp.
Haggerty is company im with for 30 some plus years.
