Thanks Barry. I'll be converting my materials except basecoat and it's reducer to SPI. That is unless I'm painting something that I can use the SPI colors on. Your products rock!
the amount of color it takes to tint sealer will make a good first coat. total waste to me. i paint over white, gray or black. tinted sealers usually lead to not getting true color and can make a repair a nightmare . the tint thing started to save collision shops some time and money . actually i think it was just a clever marketing plan for all the value shade crap.
Shine, I knew you didn't use the tinted sealer and was curious as to why that practice of tinting sealer came into being. You just explained it in a manner that makes perfect sense to me.
there was a time when i thought it was the neatest thing since lace panties and pop top beer. as i got older and wiser i got to see just how the industry works. much of what is on the market is really not needed. it's a fairly simple procedure complicated by bean counters and marketing firms. they dont care if you need it or if it will work, it just has to sell .
