Dupont base over SPI Base

C

Chilled Iron

We are working on a project and have a door and trunk lid blocked and sprayed with SPI black base and the customer came in and decided he wants brighter color. We haven't sprayed clear yet so we were wondering if we could just scuff the SPI base and lay dupont base right over it or will we have to seal it with clear/epoxy ?

Thanks

Would it hurt to wet sand a bit? Just want to make sure if the base gets thin it wont react with the new base. Thanks again!!

If you need the exercise, won't hurt or help a thing! Truth is you don't even need to scuff the base but I did not say that.
Two ideas:
Don't use a wax and grease remover on the base.
Reaction can't happen, if it does we will learn together as I would be stumped.

I've layered up different types of bases including PPG DBC, Global, Omni, and Dupont Chroma base and Chroma Premier doing budget graphic stuff/using what was on the shelf... and never hand any problems.
