Dupont to sell auto refinish division

Sorry to hear, we need all the competition we can get.
Eventually, the paint business may get like other businesses
and ther'll only be 0NE place to buy from.
Then they can charge whatever they like for whatever quality
they want.
Having fewer places to buy from is never a good thing.:cool:
 
Well now this is interesting. Those using BASF, expect a "small" percentage in price increases if the deal goes through. ;)
 
I was told last night by a jobber, that Dupont has already announced a 7.5% price increase.

I know at a 5 billion dollar investment, I would want to make more then 5% net if I bought it.

James said the other day i should send Dupont a check for $10,000 and tell them I will pay them monthly. LOL
 
What does this mean? Even at the price they charge, their refinish business is not profitable enough to keep? I don't understand it.

Will Standox and Spies be part of the sale?
 
Yes and yes although I did read where the OEM and the auto refinish could be broken up.
 
Man, I am already held hostage by the Arizona Power Supply since there are no competing electricity suppliers. Now I'll have no choice but to "pay the piper" for auto paint too.

They are actually out there today doing grade work for addition.
Permit was FINALLY approved yesterday.
