Effects of Reducing Epoxy on Color and Gloss

I use standard fittings but I think a few here have mentioned that the high flow fittings do make the gun spray even better. 3/8" hose. You're going to like that gun, it does have a short spray distance from the panel but the pattern is wide, great transfer efficiency and atomization.

i've compared the standard and hi flows and you can definately tell the difference. been using the high flows for years now...wont even look at a standard fitting.

I've used the hiflow fittings with SATA guns and seen a big improvement but I haven't tried them with the Iwata, Jeremy-have you tried the Iwata with standard sized fittings to compare? I was told when I bought that gun that with the low air requirments the hiflows weren't needed with that gun, also read here that the gun sprays better with.

I finally fixed my Astro 9011. First I unscrewed the air fitting at the handle. Then I put some new teflon tape on it. Third, I got a new IWATA LPH400 and screwed it onto the fitting. Problem solved!

Actually, I havent tried it yet. Do you guys use high flow fittings? 3/8 hose? Has anyone noticed a difference from standard fittings?
I have some high flow fittings but haven't tried them yet. I do know that the Iwatas in general use a lot less air than the Satas and therefore will do better with a regular fitting than the Sata.

Do let us know what you think of the new gun once you try it!

Will do Crash! With the weather we've been having (below normal temps), it might be a while.

Would it be cost effective to switch my Walcom 9011 over from 1.5 to something like a 1.8 - 2.2 for Turbo and the like? I guess I would need a fluid nozzle, air cap, and needle?

I know JCClark likes the hi flow fittings.. He has been using them for years and I think he loves them.. Im still using standard fittings with my lph, but it sprays so well Ive not bothered with changing anything

It might be good to have a gun that can handle thick material, if you can get the parts cheaply enough. Have you sprayed Turbo with the 1.5 yet? It might work OK as is. For sure if you want to use poly primer you'll have to go bigger.

Crash,

Is there a size that would work well for Turbo and poly?

I have sprayed Turbo 4:1:1 with the 1.5 and my other gun (1.4), and it works fine.

I have an old Sharpe with a 1.8 that can do both, but now it gets used for poly only because my other primer gun (LPH440) is so much nicer.

I remember turning the material screw in on the 1.8 for some primers. Wide open for poly, but I would not want to do a whole car at once with it because it is slow going.
