Epoxy activator is darkening. why?

Does anyone know why the apoxy activator turns black or darkens?

Still spray fine and sets up great. Is there any reason to be concerned?

no need to worry. This is normal and a characteristic of epoxy activator.

I have been using it off in on for about 6 months.

But I keep it at a constant 70 degrees religiously.

totally normal. many epoxy activators turn a dark amber/red color as they get older. nothing to worry about and its still good. you think the spi stuff is bad, my west system activator really turns dark. the newer spi epoxy activator will turn color much less than the older stuff btw.

That is funny. I called Barry a couple of weeks ago and ask him the same question. I had been going to ask him for quite sometime. He said that it is normal and would only be a problem if you were using it to mix with white for a sealer, as it could change the color of the epoxy.

Barry told me it has to do with air getting mixed with the whachamacallit. You know how he is with technical stuff. LOL
