Epoxy and welding

Epoxy primer newbie. Might be a “duhhhh” question but figure it’s worth asking.
Building a 64 Nova all purpose (drag/autoX/street) monster. The front subframe on these cars is super thin (18 gauge!!!). Going to add some metal in certain areas around the subframe to stiffen things up (think two C-channels on top of each other ) before adding subframe connectors /etc/etc… Can I use epoxy in areas where I’d normally use weld thru primer? I’m definitely going to clean up the weld areas to bare metal but there will be a lot of overlapping metal on metal.
How will epoxy hold up close to weld areas? Can it withstand the heat created by welding?
I won’t be able to just weld and flood with epoxy as welding will almost seal certain areas.
Thank you!

Eastwood makes a 1K chassis paint in aerosol cans and a wand that attaches to the can, 24 inches long, so you can spray inside the channel after welding. Not as good as epoxy, but better than nothing.
Also, 3M makes cavity wax in aerosol cans with the same wand system, again better than nothing.

I've spot welded welded sheet metal that was epoxied (grind to bare metal for the spot weld area) and I'd say it burns back just under 1/2" inch.
The smell of burning epoxy is terrible

You are all awesome! I appreciate all the help on this forum, it definitely helps us rookies get our feet wet.
Now that I have a decent jug of of SPI epoxy looks like I won’t ever be using weld thru primer again.
THANK YOU!
