epoxy as sealer over polyester primer

Hi can I apply epoxy as a sealer over sanded polyester primer or do I need to use a 2K primer first?

Sure. But I spray a coat of 2k over the poly to fill in the scratches and then wet sand the 2k 400-600. No scratches to worry about cancelling out, then epoxy seal over that.

I'm confused by this reply ^^^ .............if a person has sanded the polyester with 400-600, why would they need to spray 2k over the already sanded polyester to sand the 2k with 400-600?

I doesn’t say anywhere poly is primed 400-600. Those are wet sanding grits and I would not be wet sanding poly primer.

Whether it’s urethane or poly, I block at 220 then always spray a coat of urethane to help fill in the scratches, and wet sand the urethane.

You're correct, the OP didn't state what sanding grit was used on the polyester primer. I assumed it would be somewhere between 400-600 grit because his question was can epoxy sealer be used on polyester primer. I would assume since he's asking about using epoxy as a sealer, he would't be spraying a sealer over course scratches.

Why can't you wet sand polyester primer?.......or are you saying that's your personal preference to not wet sand polyester primer?

Polyester primer is basically thin sprayable bondo, it will absorb moisture. Do you wet sand filler?

I would not wet sand filler, however........
