Hi all.
I am getting ready to place an order for some epoxy and want to verify I am understanding what I have searched on this forum.
My project is a 67 E type roadster. A very straight and rust free CA car on a rotisserie.
I am sending the body to be media blasted (at a local shop familiar with these cars) with walnuts and a mix of glass. I am being told one is for paint and the other media is for light rust. I am also being told the hood may end up being cleaned with a different process (chemical and then soda) to reduce the chance of warpage.
Questions.
Any glaring issues with the media blasting mentioned above?
Is the surface left by the walnut and glass media ok to epoxy over or does it need the 80 grit DA treatment? I understand if the hood is soda blasted I need to neutralize prior and DA.
Is the 700-1 final wipe and epoxy?
Preference on cloth to wipe with?
Can we confirm the below key times for the epoxy?
Spray and the first 24 hours- keep above 65 and no filler.
24 hours to 7 days- Filler ok over epoxy with no sanding.
7 days to 30 days-light sand then filler
30 days and up- reapply epoxy before filler.
The body is straight but will require light filler with that in mind, Is best practice 2 or 3 coats of epoxy for the first spray over media blasted metal? will the gallon of primer and gallon of activator be enough or should I buy 2 of each?
As long as old lead is in place can it be epoxied over with out any prep work?
thanka
