epoxy sealer 1:1:1 / 50% reduction is this what one coat should look like?

x2 jwimmer.

i dont seal for coverage or to fill in irregularities. i do it for adhesion. 1:1:1 achieves that without adding texture and build to the job. it flashes quick and base can be done in 10 min. thicker and you need to wait as per barry's recommendations in the tech sheet.
1:1:1 is 50% reduction.
The first one is Part A, the second for Part B which mixed together produces your epoxy and then you had an equal part of reducer. Thus 8 oz Part A plus 8 oz part B = 16 oz of epoxy unreduced. Adding an equal portion of reducer (8 oz) gives a 50% reduction.
Okay, thats what I was thinking it sort of confused me when he said I over reduced. I read you also reduce it 50% and was wondering if it looks like my first 2 pictures. That'll let me know that my speed and distance is okay, or maybe slow down a bit more.

I agree with above. My sealer is always translucent. Mix it too thick then it should set overnight IMO

Like the first 2 pictures translucent?

Yea thats what I was doing body is perfect was only using sealer to get the metal and filler some protection and also for my base to get adhesion. I was going to spot primer but I always sand through edges and if i try spot primering with epoxy i would get texture.

OFF TOPIC does anyone know why the quick reply posts everything twice?

well there is no real right or wrong. the other guys that dont reduce as much is perfectly fine. i just like it to lay smooth and i dont need any build up. i spray it like its a coat of base. 1 coat and its done. for me it looks exactly like your first picture. i dont hammer it on. epoxy does funny things if you spray it too wet. like i said. spray it like its basecoat. it will not cover completely, especially the white.

as for the double posting thing, i have no idea. it does it to me all the time

Hey, thanks to all you guys and barry. I finally got the shell painted and i'm super satisfied. Did have a few mistakes though, tape flew off and landed right on the fresh first coat of clear =( looked bad but after a second coat it almost disappeared. Will probably fix it later down the road since I don't think I can pull that repair off just yet.

Shitty garage booth and fans but it works pretty good. Made A BIG mistake of using brown/green masking paper and got lint and dirt on the entire car after my sealer (cheap masking paper, my mistake). Decided to wet sand with 600 lightly to remove all dirt (barry's advice) and worked great. Remasked with PLASTIC and then I shot another coat of sealer to be safe and went to bc/cc. Did get tiny bit of dirt but no lint but no where near the amount that I had with masking paper. I am super satisfied with everything and this universal clear looks amazing, a bit of peel(less than oem cars but I am satisfied 100%) and this is my first time ever shooting clear. I will however have to redo the roof since I couldn't reach the middle of the roof(I'm short lol) and got dry spray and stripping in the middle. So yeah, I still have to finish the rest of the car but I feel more confident now and thanks to all you guys. I also need to clean the residue on the trim from 3m's green tape. Anybody have ideas or know what will work?

This is where the tape flew and landed on. Its noticeable but not too bad. I will repair it in the future when I can figure out the steps to fix that. Theres 2 coats of clear so I'm nervous even thinking about it.

I bet you could easily sand that spot out and with a light buff you won't know it's there..
