favorite disposable paint cup liner system?

Oldtimer
De kups, sata, gerson, norton are a few names that come to mind when thinking of the disposable paint cup liner systems. Do any of you guys use these? It seems it would save a lot on solvent costs when cleaning the gun and also save on time. Which system works best?

I have the 3M system. It seems to me that it chokes down the flow of paint to my gun.
I quit using them. Have over 2 cases of them collecting dust.

Maybe its just an amatuer observation, I would like to hear what the pro's here think.

been using the 3m system for years. only complaint i have is the price keeps going but what else isn't. I've used the devilbis dekups before. They are good also, just hate having to put that little filter down in the gun all the time. The 3m, filter is already in the lid. the dekups are cheaper also.

I like the iwata cups out of all of them. Although they are still a hard cup, the cup is disposable.

Had not heard of the Iwata system. Gleened this from their website:
"The unique air valve with anti-dripping system and no BAG or inner liner means there is no change in the paint delivery rate "
That seems to confirm the observation I have made about the 3M system.

Time to put the 3M stuff on Ebay and try the Iwata system.

Just had a thought, can you use the Iwata system upside down? If not , I better hang on to some of the 3M stuff as that is the only thing I still use it for.

i honestly haven't experienced hardly any change in the paint delivery rate with the 3m system. seems to work fine for me, but we all have different spray techniques and what not. Might have to give the iwata cups a try. Doesn't look like you can use these for anything other than iwata's though...unless i'm just not seeing any adapters for other guns. I have a few satas too.

I use the 3m system also. I've used them the last 3-4 years and I have been happy. Except the price but I like the filter in place. I have noticed a lack in flow when you really fill the cup and get to the bottom of it. They start to starve a little. Pop the cup and get a gulp of air in the cup and they take off again. A pain sometimes but I would rather do that than clean a cup.

Chad, if you order a set for you, order me a setup for my iwata.

IF Chad is interested, I'd like to get a setup also. Tell me the $$ and I'll send you some greenbacks.

Do you guys both need them for iwata or another gun?
They have adapters for different gun. the adapter is basically just a brass fitting with different threads on each end.
I have a few boxes of cups in stock at all times. I just don't stock the adapters. But let me know what guns you need them for and i'll get them coming.

You cannot spray upside down with them, which is really the only draw back..
You just have to remember to open and close the valve when you set the gun on the counter.

I also found that i would use one cup for base.. then rinse with thinner a little bit and dump out, and then re-use for primer..
If you really want to you can clean them and re-use them longer but at some point defeats the purpose of having disposable cup.. But that's to each users preference..

Going to be placing a order tomorrow for some iwata parts.

I called them on the disposable cups they have. and what you need is a starter kit for each gun. it's a white base for the lids. and stays on the gun. They run about $25.00 per gun.
Now here is the kicker. I checked on the adapter for another gun that i was pm'd about and they don't have a adapter for that gun, and said to contact sharpe directly for the adapter.
Problem with that is i don't see sharpe giving me part numbers to retrofit a iwata item on to it.
She said they only have the set ups for the iwata's now..
I wonder if they got in some sort of trouble for having all the adapters..

Now i do know that the iwata thread does match some of my other guns, i have used my iwata cups on the sata and vice versa..

The disposable cups are $42 a box.

Does anyone still use the Devillbuss liners that look like zip lock bags? I still have a good supply for my measly work and I like how they allow me to shoot in any direction. How are the disposible cups different.

my favorite one lately is the durablock one. its not all fancy and trick like the 3m or devilbiss. what it is, is a cheap 20oz diposable cup with a regular lid. there about a 1.50 and i will use them a dozen times for clear, then switch it to base or primer or sealer. so they can be used up to 50 times. or more. super easy to clean. so to me they are a semi diposable. yes u could throw them away after the first try but dam there easy to clean!

That is the system I have and love it. My wife works for a Bio medical company that uses a lot of zip lock bags so guess where I get my supply from. She can get me small ones to extra large ones. They have worked out great. Sure cuts down on the gun cleaning.

I always use the DeVilbiss zip lock bag system.
I don't use their bags though, I use the store bought
1 Qt size "freezer" Zip-Lock brand bags.
They're much cheaper and actually work better because they
collapse easier.
I go through a lot of them, sure makes clean up easier and
I like being able to shake it while painting
and being able to paint upside down.

I do the same thing works awesome. The little plastic adapters didn't work for my Iwata cup, so I use the cup off of my old Harbor Freight purple gun with the freezer bags.

I bought these a while ago & used them for the underside of the car but after a while the plastic adapter for the Astro guns seemed to shrink & fall out of the cup base, anyone else have that happen? Other then that they seemed to work great & were reasonable priced - much cheaper then the hard cup systems. BTW - anyone know where I can buy a new adapter?
