Finally finished with relocation

Senile Old Fart

Its been a couple busy years going between 2 homes and not really getting anything done on a project.

Well that has come to an end, the last U-haul truck was unloaded today, filling a 16 x 55 storage bay and a 10 x 25 storage bay.

Purchased a vacant land next to the new to us home and now have to draw up plans, get permits, and find labor to build a new shop.
My plan if approved by the finance manager (wife) is to build 36 deep and 50 wide.

Looking at using house plans for the exterior layout, but building it as a shop.
Someday it would then be possible to convert it into another home to sell as I and a realtor friend both think that in our location 2 homes would $ell better than one home with a large shop 10 - 15 years from now.

If I go this route then a pit type booth is out of the question, maybe a side down draft will be the way to go. Barry pointed me in this direction, now I have to start shopping for a reasonably priced booth.

As our home is in the Sonora desert the roof will be covered with solar panels to provide many kw's to help power the a/c the building will be getting.
Looking into using ductless heat pump system, again looking forward to conversion to a dwelling someday. Will be putting all rough in plumbing under the slab as well.

Did some house shopping in Texas but the weather there is to dam changeable and I never care to see snow on my driveway again.

Once the shop is built Barry will be shipping products to the old man in the desert, lol and I will finally get to devote the rest of my days to my auto projects :)

A shop that big? I'm jealous! Here on Long Island, NY we would pay dearly on additional property taxes for a structure that large.

sissy ............................ :) congrats on the move big guy. a pit booth could be filled in later but to be honest my old shack of a booth works fine . my painting days are numbered so mine will outlast me .

My days are numbered to, LOL.

Wow, that is a big move but everything sounds perfect.
When we moved in 97 after last kid left, told my wife did not care what she bought, just make sure I could build me a play garage and not worry about neighbors.
We all have our priority's, LOL

blizzards here are brutal . some times i have to use chains to get to work . IMG_20151228_082643303.jpg

Good luck. Those steel structures are said to be pretty reasonable in price, and considering what you are going thru to put this together, I am sure it would be an ideal location for 8/10 people that do what we do.
