I'm about to paint my van which is my first paint job.
Equipment
40 husky air compressor
R500
Linear blocks
Product
White epoxy
White SS
Currently the van is about 85% done in white epoxy.. My process was to shoot it then sand with 220 to find the lows. I filled the lows with evercoat rage, then shoot again. I didnt do 2k because my van is my DD, so I needed it to be weather tight. Finally getting to the point I am now.. No dents and coated.
I called the guys at SPI and with their guidance am going with SS over base and clear.
The road map to the SS I hoped for help.
Previous I was sanding the epoxy with 220, should I go to 400 before I paint the SS? I have been shooting the epoxy with 1.7, but understand I should use a 1.4 or 1.5 for the SS? Is there a difference in psi for the SS, epoxy seems to lay good at 24to22psi. After I lay down the SS I understand I can blade it with 800 to get it dialed in.. Do you do a x pattern or straight up and down? I don't have a air compressor with enough cfm so I plan to block by hand like I have done with the linear blocks. After the SS is good, what compound should I wax with?
Thanks for the help
