first time ever spraying

So I just got my compressor plumbed In and attempted to lay down some black epoxy. I never sprayed or tried to adjust a gun. I read the write up here and many other places to adjust gun. Did practice patterns and just didn't no what I was looking for. I tried my best to get the gun setup and took it to the back of my decklid(figured Back of panel be good place to start) first wet coat sprayed down not as expected. I had runs and it didn't look how I would wanted it to. Finally adjusting the gun more and studying more I started getting the hang of it(I think?) Layed down the second wet coat and it sprayed alot cleaner didn't add no new runs and covered some first coat imperfections. Overall I'm happy with today's progress and love the epoxy. Anyone got some pictures of what test spray pattern should look like? Anyway here is the back of the decklid I sprayed. Going to do more panels tomorrow.now that I'm getting the hang of adjusting and speed of spraying.

Sprayed outside in 73 degree weather. As guy was drying annoying things blow on from wind. Should have my portable car port fully enclosed setup soon. How long does epoxy take to dry to touch?

Gloss will die down to a uniform sheen (semi-gloss).) if you set up a carport booth you will have a possible ventilation issue.at this point in time spraying outside and a small ammount of trash in the epoxy is no big deal due to the fact that it will all be sanded out( just be sure the surface is clean before you spray.)

Good start. Chevelle or Monte carlo? Those rubber bumpers pop off carefully. It looks like it went on a little thick but it'll be fine.

Its a 68 chevelle. I'm thinking of sanding with 320 and reshooting the top of the deck lid

Okay I'm glad to say I really learned how to adjust the gun to my likening! I found an article online that had pictures explaining what everyone was telling me to do to setup up a gun and test spray should look like. I did a light sand and resprayed 1 coat of epoxy

hey guys so im adjusting my gun and i think i got it good but keep ending up with orange peel here and there. mainly smooth but orange peel in random places? is it mean i need to up fluid and pressure or because it in little spots is it just my spraying technique and speed of moving?

I wouldn't worry about perfecting your technique with epoxy primer. What are you using to spray with? A 1.4 tip should lay the epoxy down real nice. Might want to up the pressure a little and be careful on gun position when spraying.
Let it set for 24 hours and then lightly block sand it with something like 150 grit. The low spots will remain shiny so you know where to apply some filler.
Do your repairs and then spray another coat of epoxy to seal the filler and any bare spots. Wait an hour or so and then spray your 2k primer.

Thank you that's the general idea ima take after the motor goes in. I'm not to worried about the epoxy launch down now seeing how after the motor I will sand with 150 reshoot a coat and start blocking and doing my filler/body work exactly as u described. But I am trying to get it right cause ima spray the engine bay and firewall now before the motor drops in and I want that looking nice. Maybe I should reduce 20%. But an update I sprayed today and does heat effect solvent pop and orange Peel? Normally when I sprayed it was very hot ans I did it outside so sun was on the metal. Sprayed the other day a little cooler out and I set up my "temp Boot" no sun on metal and it layed down really smooth no orange Peel!
