Full strip needed?

I am working on a cab that is completely rust free, and will be on a daily driven work truck. Are there any serious cons to heavily scratching up the factory coatings and overlaying with epoxy then base/clear?

How old is the original paint and what condition is it in?

for prep 320 grit on a DA and a maroon scotchbrite pad should get the job done.

Thanks Bob, I figured it would be alright once it's roughed up.

Opinion on the using 2k on a work truck? I can see getting everything dead straight on a show truck, not so much a work truck. It seems like going from sealer to base would produce an "acceptable" finish.

Primer is usually needed to fill featheredges and smooth out dent repairs. It may not be necessary to completely primer the truck, but plan on some spots, at least.
