Gas Filler Area

We have some more work to do on a tail light panel on the Camaro. I dont really expect it to happen, but with the gas cap in the middle of the panel, is there anything you professionals do with a something different than universal clear in those areas or is it something you just need to wipe off right away if you get any gas splashes. Just figure it is pretty common to see black rear panels on these cars and thought it would be a place to put something different than the base / clear.

It's never been an issue on anything I've painted. I could see if there was fuel constantly sloshing out of it with a bad cap seal there may be problems if the paint has long enough exposure to the gas.

If you wipe it off right away, you shouldn't have a problem. I had to redo the gas tank apron on my 34 after I took it for dynotuning. The people there parked the car facing up hill, in the sun so the pressure pushed gas out all day long.
