Got some free Chromabase - must I buy basemaker?

FYI - this is for a guitar, not a car. How can I use Chromabase without buying basemaker. I only have 3 pints of different colors to play with (leftovers from a body shop).

Thanks,
Michael

I think you are stuck buying basemaker if you want to use that stuff, but I could be wrong.

Paint was free, just to be safe, I would buy the basemaker and with that, it is still a deal.

There are some off-brands basemaker, just for DuPont.
My supplier carries some and I know of a body shop that uses
it without any short-comings. (FYI)

Transtar makes a reducer for DuPont Chromabase and Chromapremier

Thanks, friends. I'll chase down some substitute Basemaker.

Just curious, would that product be useful as a reducer for anything else?

A lot of people get concerned about buying the basemaker for
DuPont base, but it's really not that much different in price than
a quality reducer.Or at least it wasn't when I was using it
up to a couple years ago.

I bought some chromabase today and the salesman recommended transtar instead of basemaker, he said it was same thing but half the price
