Steve,
That is just awful, got to be heart breaking.

Any idea what started it?

Be thankful no one got hurt.
As shine said, been there done that. It sucks.

not sure what happened. i went in the house for about 5 min & all was well. went back out & it was blazing. everything was gone in about 15 min. needless to say, that big order i was telling andy about the other day when i placed a small one will be put on hold for a while...

Very sorry brother.. Im glad no one was hurt as all other things can be replaced.. Best of luck to you

Wow, horrible thing to happen to anyone! Best of luck to you and a speedy rebuild....

i had a small miracle yesterday. in digging thru the rubble, i found my minijet gun virtually untouched. i'm planning on setting up temporarily at my dads to keep the bike work going for some kind of income thru all of this, so finding my "bike gun" was really a blessing. gotta keep looking for the positives but haven't had many so far.

Next time you need to order for next job, call me and talk to only me.

If I'm not there just leave message.

Has your insurance company stepped up yet?
I recently upgraded my insurance because of all the tools and the cars in my garage that are not registered or insured for the road. I also took pictures of everything showing model numbers, condition etc. and uploaded them to the internet for safe keeping as "proof" of what I own.
I can appreciate how sick you must feel over the loss of your stuff.
I friend of mine had an alarm system in his garage that went off in the early morning hours alerting him to a fire. By the time he got out there it was burning so hot he couldn't get near it. Lost his Corvette, a 64 1/2 Mustang just painted, a brand new race engine on a stand, and the list went on. His insurance company offered to cover his tools but nothing on his cars and he had to hire a lawyer and sue the company to even get close to recovering what he lost. Still was out thousands of dollars and two cars.

Sorry to hear about your bad luck. Hopefully you have good "Business" insurance, or atleast hope the cars had insurance. One problem I hear all the time is people working on cars in their garage and thinking that they are coveered by the insurance on the garage. The fact is that in most cases, the policy on the garage has no coverage for the vehicles in it. Vehicles require their own insurance. They are seldom covered for anything without their own policy.

As an added note.... I always recommend that anyone leaving their vehicle for me to work on make sure that they have their own insurance coverage on that vehicle. They are made awarew that I have no coverage on that vehicle.

Man that sucks. Nothing worse than that. Ironically it looks like the only thing that has a chance of being salvagable is the kerosene heater.

don't get a false feeling of security by the ins on the car. once you accept a car to work on you are solely responsible for the car. the signs about responsibility for fire or theft are useless. if the owners ins pays out rest assured they will come to you for their money.

out building are only covered with 10% of the homeowners policy .

Out buildings and then there is the "contents" aspect of insurance to deal with as well. They treat the building separate from what's in it so you should check your coverage on both.

the homeowners policy only covers hobby type tools. to cover cars or tools you need a garage keepers policy and you cant have one doing it in your garage. . lotsa money . actually most homeowner policies will void your insurance doing work like this in your garage. it gets real interesting when it happens. my 30x40 burned at the lake. didn't cover any of my stuff. got the 10% of policy and a small amount on tools and stuff.

Thats all true but if they find out you were doing business in the building they wont cover anything. For that you need commercial ins. Even if its on you property. I went through all this a few years back. I now have a seperate commercial ins to cover liability, fire, damage or anything else that happens. Without it i would be SOL.
