sc paint
Good evening.
Long time lurker on the forum with just a few posts (questions). I have something I thought someone here might be able to make a few comments on for me.
I am painting a fiberglass shower pan for my brother in law from a vintage trailer. He repaired the pan with fiberglass but it's not perfectly flat on the inside bottom where you stand and is therefore not going to look very good unless I correct that. I have a couple options. I can just prime with SPI epoxy primer and then use body filler to flatten out the surface then prime, base, clear... or I can lay in a thick flow layer of 2 part West epoxy which I have on hand in the garage to help a little. So my question is this for you fiberglass types. Can I put the epoxy over the fiberglass? Any issues? Can I put the epoxy primer over the 2 part epoxy? No mention in the tech manual of this -just fiberglass.
If the pan is only going to get a couple showers use a year should I even bother with the additional epoxy or should I just go with a little filler. I think I'll need to use some filler in the end - just a matter of whether I am using 1/16" inch in a few spots or something less.
Will be base coat clear coat finished using SPI Universal
Any input would be appreciated.
Thanks - Jake
