HOLLEY PERFORMANCE LS FEST CAMARO PROJECT

Hey Y'all. I'm a long time user of SPI products. I'm a welding instructor at a high school level technology school here in Bowling Green KY. (the home of the Corvette!!) I have been restoring classic cars as a "second shift" job for years and absolutely love all of the SPI stuff. My school is competing in the Grand Champion competition at the 2016 Holley Performance LS Fest here in BG. Holley Performance Products gave us a 1981 Camaro to build. It must be LS engine powered and compete in the Show and Shine, Autocross, Road course track, and Drag categories. My students, as well as the Automotive Technology class are doing all the work. I can't say how much it means to my school to have SPI support with the project. Barry has been great and the products speak for themselves! I'll be posting pics over the next several months. Check them out and shout if you get the chance. These students are the future of our business/hobby/trade. Skilled trades are in trouble in our great country. Traditional education frowns on us. I see and hear it every day. We gotta do what we can, guys. God bless the USA!

Pretty cool . Have a soft spot in my heart for the later2nd gen Camaro bodies, but definitely not the original factory drivetrains.
Hats off to your day job, you're needed & I think years from now, your students will have more appreciation for you than they show today.
Would love to make the LS fest oneday, as I swapped a 99' ls1 into my 83 el camino back in 2002' the hard way before all the swap kit stuff, such as the latest Holley system of parts.
Be interested to see the results, will probably see a small flash of yall on tv sometime next year I'd imagine.

We appreciate it. We are hoping to surprise a lot of folks with what high school kids can do when properly motivated! Be watching for updates. We're on Facebook at ON TRACK WARREN COUNTY ATC

Hopefully "the little engine that could". 2007 all aluminum 5.3 LS. Ported and polished the heads. New roller camshaft and other goodies from BRIAN TOOLEY RACING in Bardstown KY. Transmission is a 4l60e with complete internals from MONSTER TRANSMISSION in Fla. HOLLEY PERFORMANCE here in Bowling Green supplied the injection, wiring, and so on. HOLLEY also owns HOOKER PERFORMANCE, supplying the stainless headers and exhaust.LS CAMARO 082.JPG

We took 4 1/2" out of the rear spoiler and arched it to match the top. We then bonded and molded it to the quarters and trunk lid. Opinions??LS CAMARO 149.JPG

Upholstery time! We used third gen Camaro seats. The rest of the interior is standard restoration black by PUI Interiors in Louisville KY from Camaro Central in Richmond KY. DJ's UPHOLSTERY here in Bowling Green stitched up a little extra color splash. The logo is the ON TRACK MOTORSPORTS group developed by the Bowling Green Chamber of Commerce and all of our local sponsors. Gotta pay the bills! Gauges are EQUUS and the gauge insert is from THUNDER ROAD CUSTOM DASHES.LS CAMARO 203.JPG

OEM Z-28 hood and scoop. We turned the scoop around backwards. (cause that's how gearheads roll) Scoop was bonded and molded. Hood is cut so it is fully functional. The throttle body element will be directly in the opening.A little math and chemistry lesson to go along.LS CAMARO 128.JPG

Here's the latest. Firewall is slicked and painted 501Q 2014 CORVETTE CARBON FLASH. We are using a complete VINTAGE AIR unit. Main body is two block and primes away. The rest of the panels are close behind. I, along with many student volunteers, will hopefully have the car painted and buffed by August 1. It'll be a hot summer! I am extremely proud to say that, except for the floor, we were able to use all of the GM body panels. I know this doesn't seem like a big deal, but it is 35 years old! Wheels are 18" Torq Thrust. We would love to hear any comments as long as you're not too cruel! LOLLS CAMARO 208.JPG

I swapped one of those spoilers onto a 77' chevy Monza years ago..
Think it looks cleaner bonded in & the lower height may show off more of the early factory styling, which was Ferrari inspired.
