Home made Paint Booth - Alabama

S

S1.

This booth is still a work in progress. Hopefully I'll get it finished soon.
The outside metal is left overs from the shop itself which was built from
used materials from some chicken houses that were being torn down.
The inside is drywall.
The lights are drywall flush mount units. (Basically the same as a drop ceiling light.)
They are 6 bulb T-8 units. I replaced the plastic covers that typically come with these
lights with DSB plate glass and then glued them inside the lid.
Inlet filters are standard 20"x20" paintbooth filters.

The 2 picture windows are so the kids can watch the car being painted
without breathing any of the bad stuff. :)

I still need to paint the inside of the doors and seal the gap at the bottom.
The inside measurements are 30'x15' with 12' ceiling.

That's my son getting some parts ready to be sprayed for his Miata.

So far it's been working pretty good ... I work on it or in it when I can.

Notice the black square on wall behind door hanging at left, next to tape/paper cart.
This is the filter that covers a 4' fan. The opening is 5'square. I have a shutter outside the
building covering the fan. The filter is the same stuff used in a commercial down draft booth.
I bought a 5' x 300' roll from a local paint supplier and I just cut what I need at the time.

New the filter is yellow ... we're painting the Miata black which explains the filter color.

LOL!!! I stared at both pics for a few minutes wondering the same thing. Totally missed the extremely large square in the back! too many paint fumes today?!

Anyway...nice set up!

Nice booth and a lot of work but the price was right:D! Good idea putting the man door at the fan end-I've seen quite a few that were installed on the other end and unless the fan control is in the booth opening that door between coats just adds dirt to the paint.
