How long until I can tape for stripes ?

I will be using SPI dark red for the main color and wonder how long before I can tape for the stripes on my Chevelle ? I want to be sure to get the stripes on before time runs out and I need to sand the BC before I shoot the clear on it.

you dont need to sand the base before you put clear on it even if it sits. spi bases tend to be a little on the soft side. i have found them to a little harder to deal with when you have to tape on them BUT being a solid color if it shows any tape marks you wont see them when its cleared. i would however wait atleast 24hrs with spi base. this all depends on how many coats are applied as well.

No worry on the basecoat recoat time-you can go days and it will be fine. Tape time will vary depending on how quick it flashes off, reducer used, temps, sealer cure time.... give it a couple hours to be on the safe side.
